Laparoscopy
Dr Jacqueline is a certified Level 3 Advanced Laparoscopic surgeon.
Her interest for minimally invasive surgery started in her early years of training, where she was convinced it conferred faster recovery, better cosmesis and less pain to patients. She was a Consultant with the Minimally Invasive surgery Unit in KK women’s and children’s hospital before she joined private practice and is currently a Visiting Consultant to KK Hospital, where she continues to provide surgical training and advanced laparoscopic support.
Laparoscopic surgery or “keyhole” surgery involves the use of small 1cm incisions to perform surgery in the tummy with the aid of a telescope ( camera) that is inserted through the belly button.
Common types of procedures using this technique include:
- Hysterectomy ( to remove the womb)
- Myomectomy ( to remove fibroids)
- Cystectomy ( to remove ovarian cysts)
- Treatment of pelvic endometriosis
